Detroit, Michigan June 28-29

Our  first look at Detroit (????Rock City)
Beautiful crossing the bridge into the USA. Bridge work was being done so lanes were squishy.
This city has been hit hard by the economy????.  Miles of empty buildings on Ford Road.
Found a cheap place for supper but decided to eat at trailer instead ????
Another night at Walmart
Entertainment was free.
Henry Ford Museum
This is quite the place.  Museum, 3D Theatres, Village and Ford Factory.
Laureen opted to do the Museum and all 4 movies.

Great Bear Rainforest

3D narrated by Ryan Reynolds.  It was funny and informative.

Astronaut: Ocean to Orbit

Learned how Astronauts trained under water for space, in a pool as well as the Ocean near Key Largo. Fun fact: it takes 30 minutes and multiple people to put on an astronaut’s space suit.

Secrets of the Universe

This movie was filmed in Switzerland and Italy.  It is about the history and future of physics.  They filmed an experiment trying to achieve a time machine and go back 1 millisecond after the big bang theory. Scientists all over the world are involved in this experiment.  Laureen got out of it was the sun is hot ???? Actually it was quite interesting.  Mark really enjoyed it.

America’s Wild

This movie was narrated by Morgan Freeman.  It gave Laureen more travel ideas.
Mark opted for the museum and Secrets of the Universe movie.
Vince and Kim chose the museum and the village.
They thought the village was well done and enjoyed watching the glass blowing artists at work.
The museum consisted of Henry Ford’s collections. About 20% of his collection is on view (they changed things up a bit) with the rest loaned out to other museums.
First McDonald’s sign
Didn’t realize how much influence Henry Ford had with aviation.

Black Rights

The original bus, fixed up, where Rosa Parks was arrested.

Shameful

Doll houses. Fun!
Disney Heros and Villains costumes on display.
Cinderella glass slipper.  Beginning with design to the end product.
Amazing train set
Carriages with train track wheels.
Love this roadster
Chair that Lincoln was assassinated in.
Only 2 of these concept homes were ever made.  Cool concept.
There was a black and white silent movie theatre.
Lol
Goodbye Detroit
