Chicago, IL June 30 – July 2

Beautiful city with many public beaches.

We slept in a casino parking lot in East Chicago.  Approximately 1 hour from downtown Chicago.

On a marina

Chicago pleasantly surprised us all.
The city has a New York vibe with the architecture and the crowds.  A little dirtier but we felt safe.
They call this building the corn on a cob.
The parking is insane.
There is a city building with pieces of other buildings parts.  Like a piece of steel from twin towers and this …
The river walk was beautiful.
Chicago Hot Dog.  We “dragged it through the garden” (that is what you say when you want everything on the hot dog).
The BP Bridge
Shaped like an S
The pedestrians walkways were neat.  Just like you see in the movies.
Crime and Mob bus tour
Spot where John Dillinger was shot down.

It was an interesting history tour.

Capones vault.

Secret tunnel

They found his address book with all the gangsters names

Where another gangster was shot down.

The Bean (Cloud Gate).

Stainless Steel art.  Fun to see your reflection.

We saw a rescue in the river with 5 fire trucks, 2 scuba rescue trucks, 4 police cars and 2 ambulances. The person was taken away by ambulance, but it sounded like they would be fine.

Went to Blue Chicago, a blues music club.  Good thing there wasn’t a dress code because we went in after a full day of touring.
Sweaty messes
Great music!

We found Chicago hot but not windy.

So what do you do with your truck while in the big cities? And how do you get around? Nice photos. June always told me Chicago was a beautiful city. But I thought you might go to Ottawa for Canada Day?.
