What to do when Laureen is out Black Friday shopping? Hmm, how about a trip to the shooting range ????!<\/p>\n

Why not try out a few fully automatic weapons, and some handguns while south of the border?<\/p>\n

The Glock 17 was incredibly easy to shoot, and I was surprisingly accurate with it! It is comfortable to hold and easy to rapid fire as a semi-automatic handgun.<\/p>\n

Next up was the MP5, which fires the exact same rounds as the Glock (9 mm) but in a rifle form and can operate in fully automatic mode (I shot it in semi-automatic mode).<\/div>\n

At this point we switched from 9mm to .556 ammo, and I shot the M4 in a mode that fired a burst of rounds at a time. This is the first time that I have fired a weapon that was more than a semi-automatic.<\/div>\n

After trying out the M4, the next logical move is to a fully automatic weapon :-). The M249 is a fully automatic rifle designed for the infantry front, it takes .556 ammo using a belt magazine. Yep, just like we see in the movies. I did a few small bursts with it, then went into full splatter mode on automatic, shooting at about 900 rounds\/minute until my ammo belt ran empty. Besides destroying most of the target, I also ended up in a cloud of gunpowder smoke. Not sure that Eric (my son-in-law in the military) would be very impressed with my accuracy, but it was a lot of fun!<\/p>\n

Last one was definitely interesting; it is a Desert Eagle .50 caliber handgun that is basically a hand-held cannon. When you first hold it, you realize just how massive this gun is, and when you fire it, you gain all kinds of respect for the size (and you learn what it feels like to get kicked by a mule). I shot 5 rounds and could feel it in my arm by the time I finished. I started shooting at a new target with this gun, and it is pretty cool seeing the 1\/2″ holes that the bullets make.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
