We arrived here before lunch and went searching for a spot to camp on the beach.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The weather wasn’t cooperating, so we parked at Tom and Jerry’s Pub parking lot which is a Harvest Host site.\u00a0<\/div>\n

We were very cozy, lol.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

You can’t control the weather and we originally had planned on 6 nights camping on the beach., but the wind was quite strong and there were rip tide warnings. That didn’t stop us from having fun, but it did limit our experiences.\u00a0 Or did it?<\/div>\n

Valentine’s day saw us biking along the beach and thankfully the wind died down and no rip tide warnings.<\/div>\n

The weather started to turn in our favor.\u00a0 We packed up trailers and drove 5 minutes to the entrance to Beach Access 5 and claimed our site on the beach.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wednesday, February 16th brought on more winds and rip tides.\u00a0 We packed up as quickly as we could in the morning and got off the beach before the tide got too high and we would be stuck.\u00a0 Not much beach left around 10:30 am.\u00a0<\/div>\n

We went to a campground called Andy Bowie. There were only dry sites left so we had to park in another parking lot taht they use for day use. When we went to let out the slide on left side of the trailer, (fireplace, stove fridge side) a strand from the slide cable snapped and jammed in the pulley.\u00a0\u00a0<\/div>\n

Now, here we sit with the slide partially out waiting for Forest River mobile repair service to come from Corpus Christi, Texas. Turns out they’re too busy to travel that far so Mark got the parts from a RV repair shop in the Brownsville area and him and Vince fixed it.\u00a0 Those 2 never fail to amaze me.\u00a0 \u2764<\/div>\n

While the boys were working, Kim and Laureen went to see the rescue turtles.\u00a0 It’s quite amazing what Sea Turtle Inc. has achieved.\u00a0<\/div>\n

Prosthetic to help a turtle who was attacked by a shark and was left with only 1 flipper.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This guy was hurt by a boat propeller and now has weights on his back to keep him buoyant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We enjoyed South Padre Island very much.\u00a0 Definitely a place to come back to visit, but not retire.\u00a0<\/div>\n
